I ordered this item to replace an original thermocouple that had quit working some time ago in a propane Heatilator fireplace insert (DX36AI) that was installed in my home in 1996. Replacing it was easy and took about 20-30 minutes with only a Phillips screwdriver and a a couple of small open end wrenches. It was obviously a quality product that fit my fireplace, and the fireplace lit up right away and several times since with it in place. I was extremely impressed with the item, the ease of ordering through SupplyHouse, and the speed with which I received the item (2 days) - amazing. Failing after 4 months and then after 12 hours
I have been replacing the thermocouples for both my water heater and boiler for the past 21 years that I have been living in my house. Last fall (4 months ago) I cleaned my boiler and installed this thermocouple as preventative maintenance since the old one had been in use for a couple of years. Too my surprise I came home to a cold house last night: the pilot was out and didn't stay lit. Luckily, I had a spare thermocouple, installed it and the heat was back on in no time. The next surprise came this morning when I woke up to a cold house again. I tried to relight the pilot - it wouldn't stay lit. It appears this time the new thermocouple lasted less than 12 hours. Heading out to the local plumbing supply store now… I will report back should there be a problem with the locally supplied thermocouple as well - meaning it wasn't resideo's fault. As of this moment I have no reason to believe this though.

No Heat Brrrrrrr!
When your heating system breaks down and its 35 degrees outside you want nothing more to get your furnace up and running ASAP. Ordering the parts needed was easy, but what I did appreciate was the speed at which these people got the parts to me. The wife and kids, and most importantly, the dog are thankful.

Intermittent pilot systems do not use thermocouples.... read the manual!

No this is for a standing pilot. You need a hot surface igniter or a spark igniter.
