This product is compatible with all pumps that are under 9 amps and 25 amps on the start-up.
822PS Pump Sentry is among the most advanced sump pump emergency battery backup systems available. It interfaces between a pump and its AC wall outlet. When AC utility power is present, the 822PS charges a battery and monitors the wall outlet to detect a power outage. At the moment utility power fails, the 822PS draws energy from a battery and converts it to enable pump operation. When utility power returns, the 822PS automatically switches the pump back to AC wall outlet power. At the same time, the 822PS resumes charging the battery to return it to full capacity in preparation for the next power failure.
General Application:
To determine compatibility with pump: User should verify that steady state pump current does not exceed 9A

Great product, great customer service
I bought this product to back up my sump pump. Anyone reading this, use my review as a cautionary tale. Always check your sump pump's amp draw using a clamp on amp meter before purchasing a back up inverter. I bought this unit because it was sufficient per my pump manufacturer specs. However, the inverter failed after several months. After working with SECAmerica customer service, they accurately came to the conclusion that the pump Drew more current than listed in the specs, thus damaging the unit and voiding the warranty. I confirmed this by taking measurements with an amp probe. They made me a generous offer to replace the inverter with a reconditioned 1622PS that can handle my pump's power draw only requiring me to pay shipping and the cost difference. Overall both supply house and SECAmerica are in my opinion top notch. Supply house helped me quickly obtain a copy of my proof of purchase. I'm hoping to take this issue up with the sump pump manufacturer in hopes they are willing to reimburse me for the inverter, which I will then use to subsidize the purchase of a brand new 1622PS.

Works well if you have the correct sump pump switch
The 822PS works exactly as advertised *IF* you have the correct sump pump switch. There is nothing in the marketing materials that state this is a modified sine wave inverter (not pure sine wave).
This would have been nice to know since I'm using a LevelGuard piggyback switch which is not compatible with this unit because of the modified sine wave.
I would recommend this unit to anyone who's pump has a mechanical switch. If you are using a computer operated switch (LevelGuard, PHCC DFC2), this unit will most likely not work with your setup and I would not recommend.

My Silent Maintenance Man
Concerning the easy set-up and testing of this compact powerhouse, I love it!!! Although the testing of it proved worthy of the challenges that will come in the future, I look forward to -probably the Spring- to when I can actually put it to a rigorous testing.
Perhaps, then would be the best time to revisit this recommendation process.

Great product
I had a power outage for about 8hs in a thunderstorm. Sump Pump running almost constantly Worked as it should and saved me from a flooded basement. The only reason I gave 4 stars is after that storm the battery must have been weak. I never got the "Battery below 50%" alarm. And the next storm and outage the battery only lasted 30min. I understand it was a battery issue but would have expected the alarm.

This is an excellent piece of equipment
I had to replace my sump pump but didn't want to add an extra line for the battery backup pump. The sump pump plugs directly into the Sentry, which is a game changer.

Back up system with strong pumps
This unit can use 12V or 110VAC to run my sump pump. The unit will monitor power from the grid and maintain the battery. It will switch automatically if the power from Com Ed is temporarily lost. The real beauty is that my pumps are both 110 VAC units.

So far so good
Delivery was on time and without issue. Bought two units for my two basement sump pumps. Mounted each of them on plywood pieces cut to width of wall studs in sump well rooms. Purchased marine batteries and cases - make sure to measure distance from power outlets before mounting. Follow installation steps. Battery-charged indicator was solid within 1.5 days. Now just waiting for next power outage…
