I didn't think this would actually work, but it did.
My hot water (baseboard) boiler started knocking mid-winter and progressively got worse and worse. I tried to just flush out my boiler using the existing water fill plumbing, but I don't know if the flow path within the boiler heat exchanger was such that it would allow this to work. So I put 2 quarts of X200 in my system, honestly not believing it would really do much. I was really surprised that it worked! The knocking noise is about 99% gone. It was literally knocking every few seconds, and now I might hear a knock every once in a while - but it usually seems like the knocking is entirely gone. To get this in the system, I turned off the boiler and let to cool down to about 80F. Then I closed the return line valve and the individual zone feed valves so that the boiler, water fill plumbing and expansion tank were isolated. I then opened the drain line to depressurize the system and let out a gallon or so of water. I then removed the automatic vent valve on top of the air skimmer on the expansion tank (the high point in the isolated section) and put the X200 in. Since I didn't have any clearance to use a funnel, I bought a 1000-mL syringe and some plastic tubing to inject the X200 into the system. I'm not sure what the density of the X200 is, but I bet it's greater than water, so it probably flowed right down into the boiler as I was injecting it. In hindsight, I might have just let it rest there for a while, but I put the vent valve back on, repressurized the system, opened up all the valves and turned the boiler back on immediately. No knocking!

Does not work; stay away
After adding the treatment, it was quieter for about 1.5 weeks before the boiler started making noises again. It is now even louder than pre-treatment. Waste of time and money.
Wish it would have worked.

Sentinel x 200 works well
Sentinel x 200 works well to quiet down our 20 year old hot water furnace (Lenox). First delivery was damaged in shipment but another was sent in timely manner when I called and asked about it.

Another great Sentinel product
If your mod-con boiler is making a "kettling" noise and you believe the boiler water is generally clean - like for an original install, not a replacement boiler - this is worth a try since it does not require flushing out.

Good Product
If this product does not solve the kettling problem, chances are its caused by Magnetite sludge instead. In which case I use the X400 and the problem is cured. Flush boiler the following fall, install X100 and monitor pH after that.
