Nice build, but leaky valves

I bought four of these manifolds (2 with 5 ports and 2 with 4 ports) to use as sub-manifolds in my new domestic supply plumbing. They were the right price and exactly what I was looking for to set-up two sub-manifolds for different areas of my house. Unfortunately, when pressure testing with air at 70psi and municipal water, at least one, sometimes 2 of the valves on each manifold had very slow leaks (see meniscus in photo). These were super-slow leaks (just a few drops per day, not a drip-drip-drip), but enough to keep the area around the valve moist. SupplyHouse customer support was fabulous and accepted the return without question. Rather than try a whole new set, I built my own manifolds out of Matco-Norca 1/2" ball valves ( http://www.supplyhouse.com/Matco-Norca-754PXDE03LF-1-2-PEX-Ball-Valve-w-Waste-Drain-Drop-Ear-Elbow ), much higher-quality valves, and cheaper overall to boot. If the valves don't leak this would be a great option, but definitely pressure-test them.

It looks and works great!

The entire PEX process works well, is easy to install and works the first time you turn the water back on. It just makes sense, and unlike other plumbing options (copper, galvanized, pvc, cpvc, etc.) there are no glues, fumes, or flame involved. By using the manifold, the plumbing for each room (bathrooms, kitchens, h2o tank, washer/dryer) is on a separate line so there are no water pressure issues and I can shut off individual valves to work on any issues in particular rooms. The whole system has cleaned up my basement and helped me remove a great deal of rusted galvanized and copper pipes.

Plumbing Renovation

We are renovating a 1960's home & have installed 3 of these manifolds, replacing all old copper tubing with PEX. They have made isolating the various water lines easy as we procede through the house. They function well & worth the effort converting to PEX..

The manufacturer does not list this spec, but we measured it here and including the connections the length from end to end is 14-3/4". The length without the connections is roughly 12.5".

Q: Can the pex outlets unscrew so a uponor qs adapter can than be screwed on?

The PEX outlets are soldered to the manifold, therefore, they cannot be removed. Uponor QS adapters can only be connected with specific threading (R20) like that of the Uponor heating manifolds.
