You would have to cut holes out of the back piece, an open back end cap is not available.
Yes, this is the standard end cap for the 30A Slant fin baseboard. It fits at the left end of the baseboard assembly. For the right end cap use 101405000.
I've used these caps in my house and they fit pretty good with the older fin pipe. You should be able to the full 3.75 inches that are indicated in the specks. If your gap is larger than that you'll probably have to replace the entire cover. It's not too hard to replace the cover. I found a Youtube video from this old house. Good luck!
The end caps are uniform in size. The only way you could close the gap would be with a longer cover. This could be done by getting one a foot longer than the current one and trimming it to fit. This was done in a couple of places in our house. Bear in mind that this is a major refit, but it IS possible. Another possibility (depending on how wide the gap is) would be to use a connecting plate that would normally be used between two straight sections of covers. Hope this helps.
