Hi, I believe this is just much wider than a standard end cap so that a valve could be accessed by the hinging front. The standard end caps would probably to too small for that application. Good luck! Mark Meissner
A valve cover has a hinged door that can be lifted to access the radiator valve. An end cap simply covers the end of the radiator and offers no access.
The valve cover is wider than an end cap so a valve can be accessed through the hinged cover. The end cap, which is a little narrower, can be hinged or not hinged. The hinged allows access to a coin vent or air bleeder. A valve cover serves as an end cap, it's just a little wider.
