Great looking

It was not easy to clean the heating coils and remove the old baseboard cover. Installing the new cover also took patience. (This is from a 61 year old woman with no experience doing this.)But the results are well worth it!

Installing Damper Fin near impossible

I would give this 5 stars if I did not have so much trouble with the last piece I attached, which was the damper fin. There were no instructions in the box, as I realized after I had the whole thing installed, that perhaps it is meant to already be installed on the large backer panel, before the whole thing is installed. Again, this would have been nice to know, because it was near impossible to install this after the backer was permanently installed. It resulted in one full-length edge of my 4' damper to become quite scraped, as I had a choice: de-install everything I had done then attach the damper then re-install, OR force the damper in by prying it past the upper lip of the backer panel. This scratched edge of course is visible. This infuriates me, as the rest of this replacement enclosure (and it endcaps) are brand new and FLAWLESS. It kind of spoiled the job for me and my wife. Does Pex or SlantFin sell damper fin replacement part only? If the only option is replacing the whole MultiPak80 kit, than that will upset me more... Bottom line is yes, I would refer this, but SlantFin SHOULD INCLUDE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS!

Just what I needed.

Very tricky to change out the old cover with the heating element in place. But it's doable.

Damper fin installation extremely difficult

I've installed about 65' of replacement baseboard covers in my home remodel. The brand from the big box stores was very easy to install with the damper fin sliding on effortlessly. I was forced to get this item due to a larger baseboard heater in an addition on the house. Most of the install went well. However, without instructions, the damper fin was near impossible to install without damaging. It would not slide on and I had to use force to snap it in place. This caused minor damage. Now, the fin will not open or close completely. I was forced to lodge a small piece of plastic to hold it open which means it now cannot be closed. The item also arrived with some scratches that I did not see until the install was nearly complete. This is not a well designed product. Also of note is the color is a slight, almost very light gray, off-white. It does not match my white baseboard molding or the other baseboard hearers in the house. I would avoid this item and buy a different model or brand if possible.

Q: how do I install this?

To install covers, after removing old covers I locate the studs and mark and drill two holes about every stud in the rear part of the cover, I then fasten the cover with sheet rock screws. Then I install the brackets I either slide them from the ends or you can pop them in , I then install the movable flap by sticking the edge that will be at the top underneath the top of the rear cover lining up the grooves in the movable flap with the brackets and then snap it in (this can be tricky) Then install the face plate on the brackets sometimes you'll have straighten the bottom of the bracket to hold the faceplate. Gets easier after the first one. Hope this helps....

Installation is dependant upon the situation.  More details of the situation such as, are these replacement covers or a completely new heating installation are needed.

You can cut backing in order to slip around pipes, bend the hangers in tight and slip over element and fasten to wall with screws into studs preferrably. If priduct is too long simply cut to size and hang like above.

Q: When the description reads Multi/Pak 80D Baseboard (Cover Only)does that mean there is more than one cover in each box?

Multi/Pak is just the name for this series of baseboard (because they work with multiple elements). Each box only contains a single cover.

There is only one cover. You buy an eight foot "Multi/Pak 80D (Cover Only)" get a complete eight foot section of baseboard without the heating element.

There is only one cover per box. "Multi/Pak" is simply the style of the baseboard. See page 4 of this brochure for a detailed sizing diagram: http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1282235489579/37346_PROD_FILE.pdf

"Multi/Pak" is simply the name of this baseboard style: each box still only includes one baseboard. The baseboards are made of durable galvanized steel and should be able to withstand an occasional blow.

Each unit comes separately packaged. Yes, they are tough enough for your application, about fifty percent tougher than any original cover I've come across.
