How the TacoGenie Works:
The TacoGenie is a small, silent pump attached to your hot and cold water lines in the cabinet under your most remote kitchen or bath fixture. When TacoGenie is activated, the cool water you normally let run down the drain is circulated back to the water heater through the cold water line.
Instantly the pump circulates hot water from the water heater, and returns the cooled water back through the cold water line. When the hot water arrives at the faucet, the TacoGenie heat sensor and control board shut off the pump to prevent pumping excess hot water into the cold water line.
Activate the TacoGenie only when you need it:

A quiet replacement pump
I purchased this pump to replace a Chilipepper pump which was over 5 years old. It was fast but extremely noisy. The TacoGenie 008-ct takes a few more seconds to get hot water to the far side of the house but it is quiet, what a relief. I have the pump installed by the slop sink which is the floor below the furthest bath. I also installed 2 doorbell buttons and a remote control button. I am very pleased with this product. I can activate the pump at anytime without worrying about waking anyone due to the noise as with the previous pump. I would definitely recommend this setup to others.

The original and best way to get hot water
Most of the less expensive hot water systems on the market use timers to bring you hot water either 24/7 or when you think you will need it. This one can be operated strictly by demand and only when you need it. This on we installed with one motion sensor for the kitchen sink and two remote buttons for each bathroom. You still have to wait a bit but you save lots of water and even a some energy by running it in demand mode only. There is no timer, Taco makes one but I don't like them for the reasons cited above.

bought wireless remote it came broke reordered 2nd one did not work called the said they received a bad batch waiting for the 3rd one have to eating 2 service calls so far
so lost money selling this product costumer not happy with me and it still doesn't work

I would buy this again. A little pricey!
I was looking for a direct replacement for an existing installation. Old pump was 5 years old. Customer was very happy as I was able to have the repair done the next day.

Works well with a few issues
Bought this a few months ago and had it installed by a reliable plumber I have used before. In regards to the shower, I pushed the door bell type button and had hot water within 30 seconds in the shower, so it does what I bought it for. As per the "cons", the water temp in the sink after the pump shuts off it supposed to be about 100 degrees per the taco tech people.My temp gun says the best temperature after shutoff is 88 degrees but get hotter as it runs. Other problem was the remote they installed, which was bad and had to be reordered and reinstalled. 2nd one works, but according to the info that came with the remote the distance is max 70 feet. The new one will not activate the pump unless the remote is no more than 3 feet from the unit. The button is only another 2 feet away....
Bottom line is that yes I would buy this again but not the remote.

Pump works great - remote causes problem
We have this pump in our current house and it works great. However we had a problem when using the remote and we would recommend to NOT USE THE REMOTE, as when it was used it caused the pump to run continuously. We had to unplug the pump to stop it and it got very hot and cooked and killed the pump. There are no issues with the pump itself, prior to the issue with the remote the pump worked great and the replacement pump that we received is still working after nine years of continuous use and it is still working great. Taco pumps themselves are indestructible and well made. But we would recommend that you do not use the remote as if your remote fails it will not fail in the off position, it will fail in the on position and this will make your pump stay stuck in a running mode causing it to overheat and fail. Instead of using the remote, we installed doorbell wired buttons wired to the Taco pump under the our kitchen and bathroom sinks at the points farthest from our hot water heater. The doorbell buttons are convenient and work great and you will never have to worry about them causing an issue with your pump. We would definitely recommend the 008-CT TacoGenie pump and will be installing one in our new house as well.

The pump is great when it works. I ordered the first pump and it would not work with the remote and was told by Taco that the problem was with the remote--it wasn't. After I returned the remote, I received a second pump that leaked. When I called to report the leak, I was told the pumps don't leak and to put teflon tape of the threads and retighten it. It still leaked.
The third pump would not shut off. When I called I was told the problem must be my tankless water heater. Since it worked fine with the previous two pumps, I insisted the problem was with the pump. I put the circuit board from pump two into pump three and it has been working fine. During this whole process, the people at The Supple Warehouse were a joy to work with.

Q: I want to install this pump on the wall in a "Vertical" position as shown on the picture above on this page instead of the "Horizontal" position suggested for the USK model. I am placing this on the wall inside my water heater compartment, with my supply lines coming down from above. My question is that going to be OK.
