Description

For more than 40 years, designers and installers have used Taco Flo-Cheks in forced hot water heating systems to prevent (gravity circulation during periods when the boiler is hot, but the space heating zone is not wanted. This makes it possible to use the heating boiler to maintain domestic hot water year-round. You can also use Flo-Cheks in systems with multiple circulator zones to allow heat to flow only into the zones that are calling for heat. In addition, the thumb screw can be opened manually for gravity feed applications, if the main circulator stops operating.

Features:
  • Automatically Opens When Circulator Starts Running Cast Iron, Universal Body or Bronze Sweat-In Configuration
  • 125 PSI Maximum Operating Pressure (862 kPa)
  • 277 degrees F Maximum Operating Temperature (136 degrees C)

this product is great when having more than one zone a must to avoide the circulator from other zone take your heat away from either zone each zone must have a flow check valve to avoid problems

Sorry I installed

First it comes with no install instructions. There is packing inside the valve itself which is painted the same color as the outside and looks like it is part of the valve. This must be removed, wonder how many people left that in unknowingly. After install I had no flow at all. I had to back off the nut, which I believe will now allow gravity flow.

I like the universal aspect of this Taco check valve

This particular product was used on the header side of a FHW hydronics system. I like the universal aspect to be able to use this particular check valve horizontally and or vertically. The downfall to this particular check valve is that it requires more black iron fittings and extra time for installation...I would have liked being able to purchase the Taco swetchek from Supplyhouse.

Q: which is better to use a flo-check valve or a circulator with the internal flo check built in already, what are the pros and cons?

We recommend using a circulator pump with a built-in internal Flo-Chek (IFC) because, ideally, the valve should be as close to the pump as possible. A built-in IFC would also require less fittings and connections as compared to a separate Flo-Chek valve.
