lasted less than a year

Worked fine for 11 months then the stem leaked. The newer version has no way to tighten the stem packing.

Heat zone valves

I replaced existing (old) zone valves in my home heating system. The new valves were exact replacements for the Taco valves that were originally installed in the house (since 1965). I hope these last 50 years also.

Yes. You will need part 555-050RP ( http://www.pexsupply.com/Taco-555-050RP-Zone-Valve-Power-Head-Series-570-3708000-p ). You will not need to drain the system.
