Can't Go Wrong
The 1/2" AquaPEX was just what the doctor ordered. Very tough and durable. Rigid enough to guide through trusses, but flexible enough to make all the turns. Very difficult to accidentally compromise. I am cautions to remain well clear of heat sources except if intentionally removing a connection. I have attached an image of a home distribution point using the PEX "A" AquaPEX. I used both the expansion tool and a crimp-er, depending on what I am connection to.

This product is very good with one exception,
The plastic wrap that is designed to use from
the inside works great until the last two wraps,
at this time it is cheaper to throw away the last two coils than to try to get it out of the plastic
The time it takes to free the pipe from the wrap
totally wipes out any savings from the product.

Product arrived quickly and worked well
Used this pex tubing to replace the original copper pipe that ran under a concrete garage slab to feed an outdoor spigot. The copper pipe developed a leak, so I routed the pex through the garage attic and down to the spigot.

PEX-A Pipe
Since my house was built with Uponor PEX-A pipe, when I had to add some additional piping to my house I chose to use this pipe. This does require the use of an Expansion Tool to get the full benefit PEX-A provides. However, this will also take PEX-B fittings and valves if you use ASTM 1807 crimp rings. This gives you the chance to easily expand your plumbing system.

Q: Have 40 yr old indoor water boiler heating system. Have 200 ft of feed and return metal pipes. Would like to install 2 in. PEX and remove metal pipes. Need to connect to 1 in. metal pipes into and out of radiators. Comments and advice please. Thank you.

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffYou will have to use HePEX. AquaPEX is for a plumbing systems (not heating systems) because it does not have an oxygen barrier.

Q: I am putting in a supply line, on to my property, from the meter. The run is about 500ft. From the road the elevation goes up 20 to 25 feet then down hill for the rest of the run making the elevation about the same as the road. We are going to build a barn with living quarters having 2 bath rooms, washer and kitchen. Later build a house with 3-4 bath rooms. There will be several out buildings with water. What size pex should I use? I was told to use 1 1/4 in. or larger, but have thought 2 in would be best. What do you think? And is pex a good product to use for this project?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffThere is not; PEX cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. PEX that is outside must either be buried or enclosed in a PVC sleeve.

Q: Do I need to sleeve 3/4 Aquapex when stubbing up from under my garage concrete floor when I pour?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffIt is usually recommended. Unless there is a window in your garage that will expose the tubing to direct sunlight, you only need to sleeve it at the spot where the tubing exits the concrete. This will prevent potential abrasion from the concrete when the PEX expands. You can sleeve the tubing with an electrical conduit.

Verified Reply- PexSupply Staff3/4" AquaPEX should be fine if you have a standard, one bathroom cabin. If there are a lot of fixtures in the cabin, you will probably need to go with the 1" tubing.

Q: I would like to install 1.5" Aquapex as a underground supply from my well 150' to the house. I will be replacing the existing Galv. metal pipe that is 51 y/o and starting to sprout pinholes. Although pex appears to be user friendly and less costly than copper.What could I expect to see for longevity and durability compared to PVC. I would bed and cover with sand. In Arizona I have very rocky soil.

Q: I need to replace a copper water line that is exposed to sunlight. How can I use Pex, if it can not be exposed to sunlight? I already read that it is not paintable. Is it true?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffPlacing PEX in direct sunlight or painting it is not advised. We recommend that you install the PEX in a PVC sleeve for this application.

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffPex ratings classify the methods by which tubes are produced and processed. Generally, a higher pex rating (i.e. 'A') means that tubing is of higher quality. 'A' tubes are most consistent with the expansion rate. In certain applications (pex buried in concrete, etc.), the rating will be meaningless.
