Can't Go Wrong

The 1/2" AquaPEX was just what the doctor ordered. Very tough and durable. Rigid enough to guide through trusses, but flexible enough to make all the turns. Very difficult to accidentally compromise. I am cautions to remain well clear of heat sources except if intentionally removing a connection. I have attached an image of a home distribution point using the PEX "A" AquaPEX. I used both the expansion tool and a crimp-er, depending on what I am connection to.

shipping wrap

This product is very good with one exception, The plastic wrap that is designed to use from the inside works great until the last two wraps, at this time it is cheaper to throw away the last two coils than to try to get it out of the plastic The time it takes to free the pipe from the wrap totally wipes out any savings from the product.

Product arrived quickly and worked well

Used this pex tubing to replace the original copper pipe that ran under a concrete garage slab to feed an outdoor spigot. The copper pipe developed a leak, so I routed the pex through the garage attic and down to the spigot.

Love you guys Great selection / great service Do wish you would find a way to use less plastic packaging. We try to be as green as possible whenever it's possible. Some day plastics like that will hopefully be banned. You could get ahead of the curve!

PEX-A Pipe

Since my house was built with Uponor PEX-A pipe, when I had to add some additional piping to my house I chose to use this pipe. This does require the use of an Expansion Tool to get the full benefit PEX-A provides. However, this will also take PEX-B fittings and valves if you use ASTM 1807 crimp rings. This gives you the chance to easily expand your plumbing system.

Pex A is easy to work with.

We used this to replace galvanized water service lines to our 1950's bathroom. It was easy to work with.

You would have to use the WIPEX fitting system: http://www.pexsupply.com/Wirsbo-Uponor-5550030-WIPEX-Fitting-3-PEX-x-2-1-2-NPT

We do not carry any fittings for that purpose--1/4" PEX is only for use with ice maker lines (which come with the fittings needed).

Q: I want to use Pex A , 1-1/2", from my well, underground to my pressure tank in a outbuilding some 30ft of tubing away . The PEX would be connected inbetween at the well casing and presure tank manifold which are all galvanized pipe products. Can Pex be used inbetween these "iron/ferrous components?

Q: I am wanting to use pex to supply my house which is 800 feet from the road. The engineer from the water supply says the pressure at the meter is 80 psi. What type of pex should I use and what diameter?

I would recommend using AQUAPEX. As for the size, that will depend on how much water you require (gpm). Normally, most people will use 1" - 1 1/4" in a residential water main application.

Q: Is pex recommended for outside use from the water meter to the house?

Yes, PEX can be used to supply the house line from the water meter. You would just have to make sure the line was buried since the PEX cannot be exposed to UV light.

Q: I have a 3/4" polybutylene supply pipe that runs from the street to my house approx 150'. It has developed several leaks and I want to replace it with PEX. Since PEX has a thicker wall than the old polybutlene, should I use 1" instead of 3/4"? It looks like the inside diameter of 3/4" PEX is actually about 5/8". I'd prefer to use 3/4" PEX since I'll be connecting to 3/4" copper on both ends, but I don't know if the smaller ID will cause a pressure problem inside the house.

You are correct; the inside diameter of 3/4" PEX is about 5/8". The reason the pipe is smaller though is because PEX requires less fittings and therefore would not change the velocity of the flow in the house. We would recommend staying with the 3/4" PEX since it is easier to work with than the 1" and it would not cause any pressure problems in the system.

Yes, the AquaPEX would be the correct tubing to use in that application with your standard hot water tank.
