Confusing instructions
The brochure did not indicate that I needed and isolation relay to install this product. This caused extra expense and travel time to install this device. The manufacturer will only reply to e-mail and it took me over six hours to get support, the additional relay and interpretation of their documentation to install this system. It was the most difficult thermostat installation that I have ever done. It worked well once I got everything lined up and programmed.

works great
Thanks to the combo of the RT1100REC and RT1100RF I am now able to control the temp. of my HVAC based on various temp. pickup locations around the house.
It cures having the thermostat's location being poorly chosen when the house was built.

Q: A recent review mentioned that an isolation relay was required for the installation. Is this required for every installation? What specifically makes this a requirement? I want to know if I need it prior to making the purchase.

I have a conventional furnace / Air Conditioner. This replaced a previous digital one. I used nothing special to wire this up and have had installed for a few years now.

This needs a relay if you need a dry contact to activate your equipment.
