009QT does not have strainer – use 777SI Bronze Wye Strainer (Watts, sku 0379081) or (more expensive combined): Use 009QT-S which includes the strainer noted above
No. The strainer is not in the body of the valve, but is a separate piece. They provide the separate wye strainer and a nipple. Install it before the valve.
No strainer is included in the rpz.
Q: do you need air gap with 1" and what is part # and price

No but you need proper drainage if used inside. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile
Check local code if a pipe and air gap are required (usually when piped to a drain) . Normally, the minimum height below the outlet of the rpz is 12".
Q: Does the unit have to be installed horizontally or vertically?

I installed mine vertically and it passed inspection with my Water Company. I don't know whether it can be installed horizontally
It can be installed either way – read the detailed instructions. We prefer horizontal if space allows.
Ideally, this valve would be installed right side up. This valve is designed to be installed with the drain hole (unthreaded, open hole in center of unit) facing down. This puts the two valves (green vinyl-coated butterfly handles) facing forward. The unit could be installed in ANY position and still function perfectly; but any moisture venting from the unit would run down or over the valve, which isn’t as elegant, functionally, as having it drop away from the unit. I have had this unit installed in my own radiant heating system for well over a year and the only moisture vented was about ¼ cup during the initial system start-up period. One caveat: do not install the unit in a way such that water would drip from the vent onto pumps, boiler or any electrical equipment.
Install horizontally with 12" clearance below.
I don't know for certain. But I would bet this needs to be horizontal. If it opens up and drains, you will want it to vent from the bottom into a drain line. That will be much less mess if installed horizontally.

I am unsure as to what the reference is however I am going to assume this is for the temperature range of a water heater. 125 degrees is the proper Max allowed temperature to prevent scald burns.
Q: the problem that i have is that my valve is leaking an I do not know what to do to stop model 009 3/4"
