Flue Gas Thermal Fuse, 511-624-664

My Weil-McLain gas burner shut down. The service man arrived and after a short period of time determined it was the "Flue Gas Thermal Fuse", but he didn't have one with him. It took him over a hour to drive the next town over and return with one plus a spare. He installed it and the burner started working again. I bought the spare and he left it. Just recently it failed again and I was able to install the spare to get it working again. I then decided that I should have a spare on hand again. Having bought for you several times before I looked it up on your web site. I saw that it had been upgraded with a replacement which I bought. I haven't used this replacement yet but it seems to be far better made than the one it replaced. These are the same oil burner people that couldn't fix my pressure switch problem before so either they are getting better or the man was just more knowledgeable. But they should be carrying this part with them as it seems this original part fails too often. Since they didn't and possibly your service people don't, you should have the upgraded spare for them to install. Also, they might only be able to buy or carry the original inferior fuse. It could easily save you over an hour in service charges and also your burner could be operating much sooner.

My gv90+ Weil McLain NG boiler works great but just recently failed. The thermal fuse needed to be replaced. I think I will keep 2 or so on hand, esp since my installer charged exactly double what they buy them for (based on what this website sells them for) plus travel and install time. A prior review suggests they fail pretty often. It's quite similar to the old themocouples, and the ones on my old Teledyne boiler lasted much longer.
