Compatibility & Applications:
- Intended for use with Weil-McLain Aqua-Plus 35, 45, 55, and 85 indirect water heater models that list this kit in the official parts information
- Used as part of routine tank maintenance or when inspection shows a depleted anode
- Suitable for residential and light commercial installations where Aqua-Plus water heaters are installed on hydronic systems
Installation & Operation Notes:
- Shut off power to the boiler and circulator, and close isolation valves to the Aqua-Plus unit before servicing
- Relieve pressure and follow the Aqua-Plus installation and maintenance instructions for draining to a safe level before removing the existing anode assembly
- Use the recommended socket size to remove the old anode assembly from the tank opening, then install the new anode, O-ring, insulating washer, and brass bushing from the kit
- Tighten to the torque specified in Weil-McLain literature and restore system pressure, then check for leaks at the anode connection
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Inspect the anode condition during scheduled tank maintenance and replace when significantly consumed or as recommended by Weil-McLain
- If signs of premature tank corrosion, odor complaints, or discolored water occur, inspect the anode and other tank components as part of the diagnostic process
- Do not operate the Aqua-Plus tank without a properly installed anode where specified, since corrosion protection may be reduced

Product Defective
The fitting on the new anode rod was not an 1 and 1/4, we tried multiple 1 1/4 sockets on it and they didn't fit. The old one I replaced came right out with an inch and a quarter socket.
Since I had to drain the tank (40 gallons) to service it I was stuck. I couldn't leave the system drained overnight to wait for a new part, so we had to file the fitting down and hammer an impact socket on it to get it screwed back in the tank. It's probably going to be a total pain to remove this since it's recessed from the surface of the tank when installed. The tank is very expensive and the service took most of the day.
You probably should check these rods out for the socket size before sending them out to make sure they aren't all messed up.
I understand that you don't make the parts, so I would recommend contacting Weil-Mclain to tell them they have a manufacturing issue so nobody else needs to deal with this.

I have to buy this again I have no choice or replace tank
Product weighs approx 10 lbs. It is mounted horizontally into side of tank. The socket with an extension must be hammered onto it so that you can keep it straight to line up the treads. Praying not to cross tread it. What a bad design for anode placement!!!

It fit the Aqua 45
This is my second time I replaced this anode rod. The price is almost double from last time. I did this 6 years ago. The old one was down to nothing. Maybe next time I will do it at 5 years interval. I used the faucet wrench which is 1 9/32 ". It's little bigger than 1 1/4" but it still work.
