It's Like Having a Brand New Valve!
This hydrant ( see photos ) was installed in 1989 and has been inoperable since 2006. I didn't take a picture of the other one, which was really TORN UP! I thought my only option was to replace the entire valve. This would involve hiring a plumber, removing drywall, and upgrading to Model 65 to match the other hydrants. In other words, VERY EXPENSIVE! Using the repair kit, I feel like I got a new valve, for a fraction of the cost of a new one, and took less than 15 minutes from water off, to water back on. Would have been shorter if I didn't polish up the valve body. I was VERY HAPPY to find that Piece (#4) 30241 Head Nut, had been upgraded from plastic to brass! I would have been even happier if Piece (#7) 30238 Stem Screw, was made of metal too, maybe Stainless Steel? Regardless, I am THRILLED to have these hydrants back in service. The repair was easy, and I saved a lot of money, time, and drywall repairs by using the repair kit!

Works for repair. Just wish there were no plastic parts.
The handle screws into a plastic piece. This broke on my existing silcock. This kit was the right one for the repair. When I disassembled the silcock, we found that there were a number of parts in need of repair. This kit had them all.
I just wish that the replacement kit had a metal replacement for the plastic piece that broke.

I would look to SupplyHouse first for purchasing items need
The service from Supply House was awesome! The item was delivered 2 days after I ordered and at the best price I could find. My only complaint is with the manufacturer (Woodford Mfg Co) who forces the buyer to purchase an entire "repair" kit of which only one or two items are needed to fix a leaky faucet. In my case I needed a $2 dollar rubber seal.

Woodford faucet repair.
Product was as advertised and least expensive I have found so far. Not that difficult to install. Remember that the main nut is left hand thread. Also if you mess up threads, Woodford will let you borrow special tap for just paying postage each way.

Really nice kit!
I'm so excited that the faucet is repaired. Woodford makes a great product. The old one lasted 40 years in spite of my not always remembering to undo the hose in bad weather. The new one is much nicer. Love the retro-looking handle.
