Description

3" Z-DENS Galvanised Locking Clamp

Z-DENS is certified for use with condensing oil and gas fired heating appliances having flue gas temperatures up to 248°F (120°C).

Specifications:
  • Specially developed, fire retardant Polypropylene
  • ULC S636 certified for flue temperatures up to 230°F (110°C)
  • Guaranteed up to a max flue temperature of 230°F (110°C)
  • Cat II, IV Special Gas Vent
  • Gas Vent BH, Class IIc
  • Suitable for use with negative and positive pressure appliances.
  • Available in appliance white finish in diameters 2" and 3". Diameters 4", 5", 6", 8" and 10" supplied in UV stabilized* grey finish.
  • Pressure tested to 20 inches W.C. (5000 pa, level H1).

Significant Advantages:
  • Complete vent system made from fire retardant polypropylene.
  • Long lasting and easy to install, no cure time required.
  • Resistant to acidic flue gas condensate reducing boiler contamination.
  • In the event of expansion and contraction of the venting run, Z-DENS eliminates the inherent dangers found with PVC/ CPVC glued pipe joints.
  • Special ingredients in the material composition of Z-DENS ensure a fire retardant system and therefore is safer to use than other standard polymeric flue gas venting systems.

Safety:

All polypropylene material, including PPs, expands and contracts with temperature change. To ensure that the installation initially is and remains completely flue gas tight, it is necessary that the Z-DENS bracket is used. For the correct installation of the bracket, follow the instructions in the installation manual. Exclusive use of Z-DENS lubricant when installing Z-DENS PPs, ensures that a reliable and safe connection is guaranteed.

Environment:

During the production of PPs flue gas systems less CO2 is produced than with the production of traditional metal flue gas systems. *UV stabilized parts available.

Design Considerations:

Greater efficiencies and a more aesthetically pleasing presence can also be achieved by using Z-DENS as the fresh air inlet.

Z-Derp. Not as pictured, does not serve a locking function.

Z-DENS is an interesting system, being one of the few that will satisfy the new code concerning high-efficiency boiler exhaust venting; but anyone buying into it should be aware that the trade size (3", etc) is the interior diameter, and the exterior diameter is much less than that of PVC, so none of the commonly available PVC / rigid mounting solutions will work. Everything is proprietary. Very frustrating. These clamps are designed to fit around the bell end / socket of this system, and they DO NOT lock the spigot of the pipe to the bell end as do the ones which look like a worm-drive clamp. What they do is provide a rigid mount for the socket side of the pipe; the locking arms engage in the thin grove near the end of the socket. The actual application of this part is not covered in any of the installation documents that I've been able to find, and the instructions provided are pictographs; most unhelpful. Most frustratingly, one would assume since this is sold in North America that the threaded rod coupling would be in 3/8, in order to fit commonly available ceiling plates. It is not. It's 8mmX1mm thread pitch, which again is not mentioned ANYWHERE, and seems to be designed solely to fit the included lag screw, which is not pictured. Good luck finding a combination of parts to make this work with common threaded rod. You're better off finding an alternative mount if you're thinking of using this in an overhead / horizontal application.
