Case and Switch for M53, M57 & M98 Sump Pumps

This product is costs about 1/3 price of new pump but can add several years to pumps life. I replaced the switch several times, until I realized that the switch pivot arm and seal was the problem. It prevented the switch from activating every time. I found it cheaper to buy the arm and seal for $24.90 including shipping instead of buying the caste iron case. If the switch is broken then the pump typically stays on, so you know its the switch which has internally welded itself in the on position. If the switch can be turned on and off with your hand, then the problem is usually the arm and seal, due to hardened rubber or a bur on the metal. Both problems could prevent the pump switch from turning on. No need to buy entire product listed here unless both items are bad. That is, if you can remove arm and seal and press or drive in the new part, without damage. Patience and the proper size ratchet can be used to install the new arm and seal. I have worked on about 6 of these M53D sump pumps and talked with Zoeller's Tech Support several times, in order to learn this information. Depending on usage, you could get 20 years plus out of this pump by replacing this part every few years. Now the M63 pump is available. It has an upgraded switch, supposedly doubling the switch life. It also has a new viton seal on the arm assembly, supposedly extending that seal life too. This pump has a caste iron bottom and impeller too. The M53 design is 30 years old so this new pump should be better. Good luck.

I ordered this switch to replace a sticky one on my sump pump. It was easy to remove the old one, but when I went to remove the plastic bolt from side of the old switch, it cracked off leaving me with nothing to block off the hole on the side of the switch body. None was including in my box. So 2 hours later, I found a ⅜" fine thread ½ bolt to close off the hole. Would have been a n on-issue if my package was complete.
