Used this to change the heating elements on a water heater. Supposed to be 1 1/2" but it was a sloppy fit. In addition the hole in the handle was much too small for any reasonable size screw driver as mentioned in the instructions. I had to drill it out.

It's too thin and soft and loose; it deformed and slipped on the nut. It was not capable of loosening the existing heater element. It went in the trash. "heavy duty" in the description is completely invalid.

Better off getting a 1 1/2 deep well socket from auto parts store this things bends

You probably don't need this tool, but it is the right tool for the job. Fit heater elements perfect. Made for an easy job.

Having the right tool can make the job exponentially easier. Used this to remove and install heating element in my water heaters.
