Self Contained Humidifier w/ Built in Fan

We needed to replace an humidifier, and decided to do it ourselves. It was easy. Easiest part was getting the replacement from SupplyHouse -- fairly priced, delivered promptly with all the accoutrements. Easy to do business with. Very satisfied.

Humidity keeping up to proper levels. 1400 sqft home. A bit of work to install but not bad.

Butch commented that the motor/fan was noisy. True - except my unit is in the basement, and there is an insulated flexible duct leading to a floor register. Quiet.

We have hot-water heat, not forced air, so this unit is exactly what we wanted - we were tired of messy, standalone humidifiers that had to be manually refilled daily. This unit hangs from a ceiling joist in the basement. The drain goes via a 1/2" PVC pipe to a floor drain. A new floor register was cut into the first floor living area, supplied by a noise-insulated flexible duct. (The floor register, PVC pipe, and duct must be field supplied.) The supplied humidistat was mounted on a first-floor wall, and field-supplied thermostat wire was run down to the humidifier. We change the filter media at the end of the heating season. Very satisfied.

My only comment is that the motor is fairly loud, works great! I have baseboard heat, so no ducts. I like it!

We have an Aprilaire 350 house humidifier -- it is the WORST product I have ever had! In the four years we have had it, it has needed 3 THREE REPLACEMENT SOLENOID VALVES 1 NEW BLOWER MOTOR Needed to replace the entire unit once. The warranty only covers parts for 5 years, and each service call cost $150 by an Aprilaire dealer. Our past whole house humidifier lasted over 30 years - this one is not lasting a year without service. If the same solenoid valve model, which failed 3 times, is used in all their humidifiers, you could have the same problem with any Aprilaire humidifier, We have the service paperwork to prove these problems if anyone asked. I would never buy or recommend an Aprilaire product again.

I bought this 350 Aprilaire to replace one that was 28 years old, that finally failed when the solenoid seized! Over the years I had replaced several parts (which are readily available), but it was finally time to say good-bye. The new one is identical to the old one, and performs perfectly. On time delivery.
