Note: This product is for water shutoff only. It fits all electric, gas, and oil-fired water heaters, all tank capacities - not requiring gas shutoff.
Most water heaters fail within 7 –10 years, some 5 million failures every year. Without a WAGS valve, a leaking water heater keeps refilling— and leaking. The WAGS valve is designed to shut off the water supply in the event of a water leak from a hot water heater, thus minimizing water damage and possible gas leakage.
Easily installed on all styles of water heaters, the reliable WAGS Valve is fully mechanical and requires no external power supply. The WAGS Valve sits in a drip pan under the water heater and is activated when leaking water accumulates to a predetermined level in the pan. Once activated, the valve shuts off the water, indicated by a red pop-up tab.

work great
I have purchased new value that was activated and work as was designed.... The previous owners had the Waggs valve installed ... I am reinstalling a new one so that I can continue to have piece of mind save on the damage a water heater can cause when they have a leak ... I am also ordering a second one for a friend who because of the age of his heater I am replacing his and will be installing the Waggs valve on his as well... he was very impressed with how mine preformed

I would never buy this product again
This product failed without having a water leak. The plastic plunger inside just broke and allowed the valve to close without a leak occurring. It didn't close all the way and allowed water to trickle thru the system. Imagine if I'd been out of town when this happened and if there would have been a water leak. It didn't even shut off the gas supply when it was designed to do so

best Shutoff Valve for Water Heaters
I have a finished basement, and I am on my third WAGS valve in 16 years. I was able to get maximum life out of my prior to water heaters without ever having to worry about about water damage. The valve worked exactly as advertised. I am also now getting an insurance rider discount from my property carrier for having a WAGS valve on my water heater. This is a simple product that pays for itself.
