A Small Price for an Upgrade
A DIYer who has redone their entire house. We have well water and the traditional choices are brass or plastic - good in most cases. This is our forever home and a small amount more per fitting works for me when each fitting is the most likely failure point.
When we had to remove the old copper pipe and intended to go forward with PEX this was the obvious choice, since the less the copper / brass that you have those are the most likely places for corrosion to occur. All of the Boshart Stainless Steel fittings worked perfectly. We will watch to see if they have any issues, but most of the fittings are exposed and we will be able to monitor them for any issues.
If all of these fittings are really 50+ years (the life of the whole system), a dollar or less for each fitting is a no brainer.
