This unit can be installed directly above a shower stall, but code requires a GFI (ground fault interrupter) circuit for such installations. Note that above-shower installation is not permitted with fans that have heaters.
Ours is installed about a foot and a half away from the shower-in the center of the bathroom, but it seems to me, in my unprofessional opinion, that it would work over the shower. The best thing might be to call the Broan company and ask them just to be sure.
