Frequently Asked Questions
What is a clamp used for?A clamp is a fastening tool used to hold objects tightly together so they don’t move around or separate under pressure. Pipe clamps are used to secure pipes in place, to hold them to a fixed surface, or to temporarily hold pipes together while you solder or glue.
How do I remove PEX clamps? Some clamps, like hose clamps or beam clamps, are hand-tight and can be loosened and removed without a tool. For other PEX clamps, you'll need a PEX clamp removal tool, often called a clamp cutter or removal tool. Slide the tool's edge under the crimped part of the PEX clamp ring and squeeze the handles together to cut the ring, being careful not to damage the PEX pipe while cutting the clamp.
Are C-Clamps and G-Clamps Interchangeable?Yes, C-clamps and G-clamps are basically the same tool. If a C-Clamp can get the job done, so can a G-Clamp. The names are often used interchangeably depending on your location. In some places, the tool is more commonly referred to as a G-clamp, while in others, it's called a C-clamp. But whatever you call them, their function and design are the same. They feature a threaded screw that tightens the clamp's jaws against the materials being held.
What Are the Different Kinds of Clamps You Offer? We’re glad you asked! Here’s a quick breakdown:
PEX Clamp Rings: Used in systems with PEX piping, these pipe clamps secure PEX pipe onto fittings by compressing the ring around the pipe.
Black Riser Clamps: support vertical piping across different floors. They’re typically made from black iron for strength and durability.
Copper Riser Clamps: Similar to black riser pipe clamps, these are used for vertical pipe support, but they’re made from copper and are usually used to match copper piping.
Electro-Galvanized Riser Clamps: support vertical pipes and also feature an electro-galvanized coating to resist corrosion.
Strut Clamps & Accessories: secure pipes, conduits, and cables within metal framing (strut channels) to help make a modular support system.
C Clamps: C Clamps (or G-clamps) are versatile tools with a C-shaped frame used to hold workpieces in place.
Beam Clamps: Beam clamps are used to suspend or secure fixtures, wires, or other hardware to beam flanges, so you don’t need to drill or weld. Beam clamps are especially valuable in situations where you need to hang or support pipes, ductwork, electrical conduit, and HVAC systems from structural beams.
Hose Clamps: secure hoses onto fittings and stop liquids and gases from escaping at the connection point.
