Outdoor Vents
I bought an extra set of this product which I recently replaced last summer because it is made of plastic. Maine winters are very cold and hard on plastic outdoor covers. They should be made of metal. I have had parts of these exhaust hoods blow away in the middle of the winter. So, I now keep a new set ready to fix the hole that's left when it happens. And that's after I shovel through the snow drift in back of my house to get to it. I would give you 5 stars for having the item I need, but only if it was made more sturdy with metal. Metal keeps the squirrels and mice away also, not plastic.

Both inlet and outlet are 9.125" X 9.125". Mine is installed through a trim board that is 9.25" wide and it just fits.

The cap on both the Supply and Exhaust caps is 9-1/8" square. So if for example you were mounting them side by side as close as possible, you would need to make the holes for the 5" ducts 9-1/8" apart on center. (Personally I would go a little longer for "wiggle room") I bought this pair of hoods/ducts with the intention of using with my portable A/C unit in an outdoor workshop. I never did use them because I ended going with a split A/C system instead. So, I have this pair of hoods/ducts for sale, if you're interested contact me at ****@***.***.

Q: Will this product help prevent pre-veiling winds from running through the exterior vents. Right now high winds come right through the vents enter the home and cause drafts. In the winter with -30 winds my Fantech HRV 1404 is installed as a direct unit not a add on to a furnace
