The FB6 inline filter is designed to reduce the level of particles in your home's air which includes dust and hair, however it is not specifically designed for order control. An alternative unit with a carbon filter and 8" connections for order control would be the CM3000 http://www.supplyhouse.com/Fantech-CM3000-HEPA-High-Efficiency-Whole-House-Collar-Mounted-Filtration-System-240-CFM

NO. The reply saying any standard filter will work is incorrect, and I regret relying on that misinformation when buying this box from SupplyHouse. The maximum length of filter you can fit in the slot is 19+10/16". This means you CANNOT use 3M Filtrete filters, as they are 1/16" too long (actual length of 10x20x1" is 19+11/16") and warp the box into a slight trapezoid as you try to jam them in, such that you cannot close the box (as I've spent the last few hours tinkering with unsuccessfully). Same goes for several other major filter manufacturers. You're essentially stuck ordering no-name brand "MERV 13" filters that are clearly inferior to the 3M Filtrete MPR 1900 (MERV 13) in terms of pleating and construction quality. I regret ordering this Fantech FB6 for that reason, as this filter dictates the air I breathe in my home. Also, Fantech should make the filter 14x20x1" to reduce the pressure drop and also allow for a wider variety of replacement filter options, because the 10x20x1" has a much more restrictive selection that 14x20x1" (e.g., 3M makes MPR 2800/2500/2200 filters in the common 14x20x1", but not in the less common 10x20x1"). Plus, the pressure drops in the Fantech manual are wrong, and the company won't call back.
