Fire-safety valve works in same way as any other

I purchased this fire-safety fusible valve to replace the standard garden-hose spigot style that the old timers used. This has a cap that melts in the present of heat and shot-fires the closing pin to seal the unit in a fire, from what I understand. It works just like a regular valve - turn the handle to open or close. It has a pipe thread to screw into the bottom of the fuel oil tank, and has a pipe thread on the outlet side to screw right into a filter housing. After one month of use, there have been no leaks. No fires either~
