Thanks to the other reviewer who wrote about potential issues with the newer RF-1 fiber filter vs this older wool filter. Replacing the fiber filter with this one resolved the intermittent flameout I was experiencing. His conclusion was certainly correct - the white fiber filter is restricting flow to some degree more than the wool.
I began doing the annual preventive maintenance on my system and thought the newer fiber filters would be better. Works fine in my hot water heater with Bock burner and 0.85 gph nozzle. The boiler is older with a Beckett burner and 1.6 gph nozzle, and was experiencing intermittent flameouts. Switching back to the wool made it happy again.
I'm also extremely happy with SupplyHouse, as always. Ordered on Sunday, shipped Monday, in my hands and able to replace on Tuesday. I'm being spoiled with their big new warehouse next town over.

1A-30 heating oil filters, I will buy here again.
The acquired filters are inline oil canister filters for home heating oil. The price is excellent and because the service is and products from Supplyhouse are excellent I am happy doing business here. Happy New Year!

This product is made out of felt which is the best material for filtering fuel oil. It keeps the sludge and dirt out of the oil burner .

Get this wool filter!
Are you trying to decide between this old-fashioned wool filter and the newer white Rayon style filter? If your burner pump has been whining a lot and you've been using Rayon filters, this could be why! Our Beckett burner was making a whole lot of noise over the past few years, particularly right after startup. After installing this wool filter, the burner no longer makes this excessive noise. My guess is that the Rayon filter restricts oil flow more than the wool filter, leading to cavitation in the burner pump; it's a similar sound to power steering pumps when they get microbubbles in the fluid. The wool filter may present less resistance to fluid flow, which may cause less strain on the burner pump. That's my working theory, anyway. Worth a try if you have a whine in your pump! It's cheaper too!
