Slow Cure PVC Cement

I bought this product cause it was the only one I could find that stated slow cure. However I did not use it because I was inserting a tee in a 3" PVC drain line for humidifier, ac condensation disposal. I was concerned that the slip couplings on either side of the 3" tee would not be snug enough around the main line. I used rubber couplings instead. I didn't return it cause it would cost to much to ship.

Slow not so slow

Wanted to purchse a product that would provide about 5 minutes of work time for 2" pvc sched 40 pipe after joining. Work time was same as standard PVC cement. If slow refers to extra time to coat large fittings, then it so state in the description.

Worked great for my situation

I was needing a "slow set up/longer working time PVC Cement. This did the trick. While (in my opinion) there is not a long working time PVC Cement product currently on the market the Hercules Heavy Body product combined with a 20 minute stint in the fridge afforded me 15 seconds or so to complete my gluing task with a positive result

Much thicker so longer dry time by definition

I had to connect 8 pipes in one shot for a sprinkler indexer. It got the job done. When I opened up the can to use again a few days later it didn't look as fresh as other brands, so I took off 1 star. Definitely for special purposes, but I prefer Oatey for every day use.

Cementing is OK... not the slow set.

I bought this product primarily to have more working time. Well it did not work as I expected. After just about 10 seconds I could not make any adjustments of the coupling and the pipe.

PVC Cement Was Congrealing When Received

Ordered Day 1. Received Day 2. Fast Service. Tried to Use Day 3. PVC cement was gellied on brush when opened. Had to use competing brand product to complete major pipe joint.

Don't buy this product

Supply house shipped this product quick. I was trying to set a shower pan on concrete and figured a slow set cement would give me more time to set the pan. I tried this product against a regular pvc cement with a stop watch 2 times. I let both products and the test pvc pipe acclimate to the basement temperature for an hour where I would be setting the pan. The regular pvc cement cured in 12 seconds and the slow set cured in 10 seconds both times I tested them. Complete waste of money.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: What is the working set time for the slow set glue? I AM NOT asking what the full set time before I use the joint, but the time I have to move the joint before I CANNOT move it anymore.

It depends on the application you are using it for. If it is being used for pressure lines it is recommended that you allow 24 hours of set time.
