Works as described.

My furnace has a manual continuous fan setting so there is always airflow (high or low) when properly set. This is very useful for the whole house dehumidifier I just installed. However, I wanted a backup "off" switch in the event airflow was lost so that the dehumidifier would not recycle air it had just discharged. The furnace electronics did not offer a simple 24 volt off solution. The Honeywell Sail Switch was the perfect simple solution. I mounted it vertically (airflow down). The low flow conditions did not quite trigger the switch (my flow was below Honeywell's specification) but would maintain the switch once down. To remedy this I put two fly line weights on the end of the sail with duct tape. Now the low flow will trigger and maintain the sail in the "on" configuration and still allow it to switch off when flow stops. Works as advertised and simple to install.

not the best

not the best switch. it does not sense the airflow too well and the sails eventually break. good for some simple applications but for air quality products a current sensing switch is much more efective and reliable.

Terrific!

I needed to replace a bad sail switch in my air return and none of the big box stores carry it. Luckly I stumbled upon supplyhouse.com. Pricing was good, packaged well for quick shipping and would highly recommend to anyone needing to find a hard to find item at a good price.

I have been using this switch for about 3 years. I installed it myself in the main furnace duct and it has functioned without a problem, it controls a whole house hepa filter. The sail material is a flexible type of paper not plastic so it should work well near a UV light. If you eventually do have a problem, with the construction it should be no problem replacing the sail with any lightweight material. Dan Lubas

Q: CAN THIS SWITCH BE MOUNTED ON THE TOP OF THE DUCT WITH THE SAIL BEING MOUNTED DIRECTLY BELOW IT INTO THE AIR STREAM?

You can take a look at the following manual for mounting instructions. The sail should be mounted where it will be in contact with an unrestricted flow of air in the duct. http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1285271593832/39638_PROD_FILE.pdf
