Plastic gears
We are on our 5th or 6th replacement, since 2007 when our building was new.
I would say it generally works great, but the plastic gear wheels always strip out, shutting off the valve so the building loses hot water. Replacement costs include a $ervice call to the plumber,( 3 1/2 hours last trip ) and of course, a new actuator. If you get a kick out of taking cold showers and paying through the nose for replacing this thing every 1 -2 years, then go for it!
