Description
–
The A419 series controls are single-stage, electronic temperature controls with a Single-Pole, Double-Throw (SPDT) output relay. They feature a lockable front-panel touchpad for setup and adjustment, and a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) for viewing the temperature and status of other functions. A Light-Emitting Diode (LED) indicates the controls output relay On/Off status. The A419 controls are available in 24 VAC or 120/240 VAC powered models.
The A419 controls have heating and cooling modes, adjustable setpoint and differential, an adjustable anti-short cycle delay, and a temperature offset function. The setpoint range is -30 to 212°F (-34 to 100°C). The controls feature remote sensing capability and interchangeable sensors. The A419 controls are available in either NEMA 1, high-impact plastic enclosure suitable for surface or DIN rail mounting or NEMA 4X watertight, corrosion-resistant surface-mount enclosures.

- Wide Temperature Differential Adjustment Range (1 to 30F or C): allows the user to set a precise (1F or 1C) Temp differential from 1 to 30 (F or C) providing a much tighter differential than electromechanical controls
- Adjustable anti-short cycle delay (0 to 12 minutes in 1 minute increments): Ensures that the output relay remains off for a user set time delay, which helps avoid hard starts, nuisance overload outages, and unnecessary equipment wear
- Switch Activated Temperature Offset Function: Allows the user to shift the cut in and cutout setpoints by and adjustable offset based on the status of a user installed, external switch, such as a time clock.
- High impact, Thermoplastic NEMA 1 or NEMA 4X Watertight, Corrosion-resistant enclosures: Increase application options, allowing surface and snap fit DIN rail mount, or Watertight surface mount
- Lockable Front Panel Touchpad: Allows easy set up and adjustment of the A419 control setpoint, differential, and other functions, a concealed jumper locks the touchpad, and deters unauthorized adjustment of the control settings
- Low and Line Voltage Models: Provide options for most refrigeration and HVAC control voltage applications

Pefect for Hombrewing/Winemaking
I use this controller to control the temperature of fermentation. I tape the probe to my beer fermentation vessel and use it to control the chest freezer. I can get great feremantion control from this.
The anti-short cycle is a great feature.
The interface takes some getting used to and to go from cooling cycles to heating cycles you have to move the jumper on the board inside the unit which is a little inconvieneint.

Would buy again working fine,but...
Using this to control temp of water in a indirect fired hot water tank.Would be nice if you could calibrate unit to show a true representation of water temp.

A quality control
This is a good controller from Johnson Controls. Very versatile- It can be used in a variety of heating and cooling systems. It will monitor temperature with included sensor and trigger it's internal relay at desired set point. Displays temp of sensor with digital display.

Worked great.
Used for hot water control with a pellet boiler. Fitted great in Caleffi Solar water tank. Set for 130 F with a 30 degree swing. Easy to mount, program and extend wires if necessary.

Works as advertised!
I'm using this control with my hydronic heated floor. The contractor who put in the floor didn't install a probe based thermometer in the concrete. A room temp thermostat just didn't work as the temperature could swing wildly. The floor temp would swing too high, then too low and it was impossible to keep the room the right temp.
CAREFULLY selected a place to drill a hole after reviewing construction pictures and it works great.
Wiring diagram is a bit useless. I'm using it with a TACO zone controller so I had to use 3 leads. I have 2 leads supply 24VAC to t1 and t2. One of the leads comes from contact closure in the zone I'm trying to control, the other from the 24 supply lead in the TACO. I then jumper the t1 to the C. The third lead goes from NO back to the other contact closure lead for the TACO zone
You could also do it with 4 leads. 2 from a 24VAC supply and two from C and NO to the TACO zone you want to control.
I like the controller setup and the ability to set the various cutout and ASD feature. I also like that I can turn off the keypad with a jumper, preventing someone from messing with the temp settings as radiant floor heat is best done at a consistant temperature!

Works like a charm but wiring is complex
Saw this at my brewing supply store for about [$] and decided to get it here cheap. I have it set up and it works very well. The cheap price is due to no wiring. The set up wiring is not straight forward and the manual is very spartan. Thanks god for the internet. I was able to find a nice picture of the wiring and had it cooling my fridge to 50F soon after for some Lager.

Great controller for greenhouse use.
We use this controller to run a 250,000 BTU heater to heat our greenhouse. By being able to set the differental temperature, it keeps our greenhouse well within the required temperature range with out big differences that can stress the growing process. The affordable controller price is also an asset.
