It's 3/8 NPT(not OD) x 3/8 MIP compression
Please correct. If you look at jokes Stephens catalog, the larger side is a 3/8 NPT thread. The other blue fin product labeled similarly is the 3/8 OD one. Just noting that correction as I had to investigate

No. It will not work. The hole that passes through the main body is smaller in diameter than the hole on the compression end where your tubing/hose enters.

yes the hose CAN go through all the way but this particular fitting has NPT threads on one end which would need to be threaded into piping...if you want hose by hose connection you would want to go with a compression by compression fitting and NOT a compression by NPT
