They are also used to prevent loosening due to vibration, to stop the bolt or screw from pulling through, and act as spacers. Great product, bad packaging.
The container that held the washers was busted upon opening the packages. I have to manually count and organize over 500 washers. The product was great. Not so much for the packaging. Took off two stars for how packages were organized in delivery boxes upon arrival. This was not a shipping carrier issue.
