Indirect Water Heaters are not given energy ratings because of the nature how they work by not being the source of burning fuel/energy usage. The boiler that this works in conjunction with would be the unit that consumes energy and have the energy ratings.
This item does not have a power source of its own. the efficiency will depend on the heating source, the boiler in which supplier it with the needed hot water for heating DHW.
I do not know about the efficiency of your boiler but I can tell you that I have this product and am VERY satisfied. Your burner efficiency will increase as it does not come on as often to produce domestic hot water. The indirect water heater keeps the water in it very hot for over 24 hours and is absolutely worth the money! The initial cost is more than a regular water heater but it costs no where near as much to use on a monthly basis. I have oil heat .........you need your boiler to be on in the summer to heat the hot water in the indirect tank, but it comes on MUCH less frequently than it would using the burner's coil to produce the hot water directly. We went through very little oil in the summer heating water - dishwasher, washer, shower ...baths ...you name it. We always have red hot water and 2 people can take showers at once in the house while the wash or dishwasher is going - we could never do that before. Hope this helps Don - CT
We put in a lochinvar boiler with an 80 gallon side kick water heater. We added 800 sq feet to house at same time and dropped our heating bill including water heater by 25%. I can't speak to your boiler but we can't complain. In the summer it is controlled by its own separate zone just like any zone and when the water needs to be heated it calls for heat and your boiler turns on. We bought a stainless steel tank so hopefully this is the last water heater we will buy. We have a 14 year old son in sports who takes endless showers. Never runs out. I hope this helps Randy Sent from my iPad
