Here is a DIY quick fix tip to join properly sized, 'mix/match' unthreaded pipe of all types in nearly every situation. It's important that all pressurized systems above 15 PSI have expansion stops inserted at both ends of a straight runs to prevent 'pop-outs'. For single access point repairs, slip firmed-up S.S. Hose Clamps over both pipes prior to joining. Make sure both clamp screws are facing you, IN-LINE and ACCESSIBLE. Utilize as much pipe insertion as job permits and properly tighten both end rings to body. Next position both clamps approx. 0.5'' from end rings and tighten well. Then use twisted 0.07-0.11 dia. SS or Galvanized guy wire to double loop & twist tie both pipe ends tightly together. After securing one end just outside of clamp, pull wire tightly right next to hump of 'screw body' across the joiner and secure again in the same way. Wire should now snuggly run parellel to the joiner body, adjacent to clamp humps and looped to pipe on far side of clamps. It's not to code, but its for a lifetime folks! Note: Obviously if you're next to any fitting you wont need a clamp. Just be sure to always double loop & twist around the pipe.
