Description

Mr. PEX 3710174 On/Off Valve for 1-1/4" & 1-1/2" Mr. PEX Brass Manifolds
A replacement on/off valve assembly used on compatible Mr. PEX brass radiant heating manifolds to open/close an individual circuit on the manifold.

Key Features:
  • On/off valve assembly for 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" Mr. PEX brass manifolds
  • Listed by SupplyHouse as replacing MP174B and MP3710174
  • MrPEX Systems product data identifies 3710174 as an On/Off Valve Assembly, spare part for 1-1/2" Brass Manifold (manufacturer documentation)

Compatibility & Applications:
  • Listed for Mr. PEX brass manifolds in 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" sizes
  • Manufacturer documentation specifically identifies it as a spare part for the 1-1/2" brass manifold (manufacturer documentation)
  • Must only be used where the manufacturer specifies this exact part number: 3710174

Installation & Operation Notes:
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified hydronic/radiant heating technician.
  • Reference the manifold/system service documentation for correct valve removal/installation steps, circuit isolation/draining, and leak testing after service.
  • Manufacturer documentation for the 1-1/2" brass manifold notes the manual plastic cap on the return valve can be removed to accommodate a valve actuator; actuator and adapter items are referenced as separate purchases in the same documentation (manufacturer documentation).

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • This valve assembly is commonly replaced when an existing manifold circuit valve develops seepage/stem leaks or becomes unreliable in operation.
  • Customer feedback frequently ties replacement to stopping leaks at the valve stem/body, restoring normal zoning/actuator operation, and preventing leak water from damaging actuators.
  • Some reviewers report valve leakage and corrosion over time, with suggestions to monitor these valves and replace before leaks worsen or begin affecting actuators (user experience).

User Reviews & Q&A Summary:
  • Common positives: described as the correct OE replacement and typically a quick swap that stops leaks and restores normal operation.
  • Common issues mentioned: some users report thread/fit issues on an occasional valve (e.g., damaged threads) and longer-term concerns about valve longevity in certain installations.
  • Q&A guidance: when asked whether this can replace a discontinued Uponor return manifold valve (A2450028), SupplyHouse staff responded that it will not fit.

Works like a charm

I had over tightened two valves on my manifold and they were leaking. Took 10 minutes to replace with these new valves. Works like a charm! Fast shipping good price. Thanks supply house!

weak point in Mr PEX system, they leak, some within 5 years

See my review for the Mr PEX thermal actuators. These valves are controlled by the actuators, but the valves don't last more than about 10 years before they start leaking water, and some were leaking within 5 years. If the thermal actuators are positioned below the valve the leaked water will get into the actuator and likely cause it to fail. A possible solution would be to not design a system with the manifold positioned so that actuators are below the valves. The valves would probably still fail but the water might not get into the actuators and cause them to fail. A "work around" is to pre-emptively replace these valves before they start leaking but their service life probably varies for each system so hard to know how often to replace. Every 5 years? The valves are a lot cheaper than the actuators. I don't know whether other manifold companies have longer-lasting valves or actuators, but if you already have Mr PEX brass manifolds I'd recommend you pay attention to these valves and be prepared to replace them before leaks or stiffness in operation of the sliding pin might cause actuators to also fail. The photo shows the corrosion on the outside of valve from leaking and the degraded rubber parts. The steel pin no longer slides freely and this might contribute to actuator failure. Note that the amount the pin extends when the valve is closed is adjustable. Actuator instructions say that cylinder should extend about 0.5mm when actuator is off and valve is closed. I'd only recommend these to someone who already has a Mr PEX brass manifold because their frequent replacement may be necessary to keep the system working.

Glad you have in stock...

My 6 original flow valves were starting to seep and I was glad to find OE replacements at Supply House. Great service as well...1st time I've actually used an online "chat" help feature that actually worked and was very responsive and helpful... Very fast delivery for these... I would have given 5 stars yet one of these valves had 2 curled over threads as I found out when this valve only screwed in 2/3rds of a turn and fetched up. Was simple to fix tho so no big deal really. Easy install and no leaks now... Thanks Supply House...!!!

Exactly the right part. Replacement was easier than planned.

My original Mr Pex manifolds were installed in 2009. In 2020 I realized my hot water radiant heat system was losing water somewhere. Was having to add about a gallon every 6-8 weeks. This winter it was getting worse so I finally crawled in the crawl space looking for water and found a puddle where all the lines were going through the floor to one of my brass manifolds. The all 7 of the valves in the manifold had varying degrees of stem leaks when I took off the actuators to inspect. It took some research to track down the correct part. Some others have complained theirs only lasted 5 years. My originals lasted 10. I think it is a function of how many cycles are on these valves which relates to how cold your winters are. I live in western NC so the winters are pretty mild.

I would buy this product again.

I used this to replace valves that no longer worked. Very easy to replace.

A mater of convenience

My Radiant heating system manifold has an extra unused circuit, so I added this valve in the outgoing port to help drain the system when maintenance is required, such as kitting the pump, adding a circuit etc.

Replacement for Bianchi Manifold valve

The exact part I needed to replace a leaking valve. Only problem was finding what part and where to buy because it goes into a Binachi manifold, which now are all private labeled "Mr. Pex" in the USA. Would be nice to have that cross referenced in Search function at Supply House. I had to E-mail Bianchi in Italy, then contact their exclusive US importer (who amazingly was only 12 miles from me), who then gave me the part number and directed me to Supply House. Nowhere on the web was Bianchi cross-referenced to Mr. Pex !

If I had the chance I would not buy this product again.

I have ten valves on my radiant heat manifold for only three years and had to replace five of them just recently. Not only did they leak but they dripped on the actuators and shorted them out. I replaced three actuators as a result.. Three years is much too short a time for this product to fail.

Replacements for 100% failure of originals...in only 6 yr

I was very glad to get something that works, but since all my original actuators failed to valve corrosion/leaks, I would NOT purchase Mr PEX again for any future work. I was tempted to throw out the manifold and use a different system...no time to do that though. Great guidance from the experts at SupplyHouse!
