Model 8664RP Ventilation Fan w/ Light, 4" Round Duct (100 CFM)

This fan unit was an exact match to the original which was installed 0ver 20 years ago. In fact, I just used the fan component from the new one and installed it in the original housing. Fit like a glove. The glass and intake grill were also an exact match so replaced the original which had acquired some "patina" Very happy with every aspect of this purchase.

This is an exact fit for the original fan installed 20 years ago. I needed a new fan. I also used the light bulb holder and outside cover which came with the new unit. One warning: wear gloves as fan unit has sharp edges. Also when you remove the single screw holding the old fan in place the fan will fall out so have a hand on it so it doesn't hit you in the head. New fan is much quieter.

I recently bought one of these bathroom fans for parts because the squirrel cage blower on the prior unit slipped lower on the shaft and started rubbing on the metal housing. Overall, I think these are good fans and I like the stability of the design which allows for a new fan assembly to just be swapped into and older fan housing with very little effort, I can see opportunities for improvement in two areas. First, the metal on the blower assembly is very sharp. If would be nice if the razor sharp steel was filed or sanded so it was more difficult to get your fingers cut when handling the subassembly. Second, I think there should be a keyed metal disk on the shaft of the fan motor to support the plastic squirrel cage blower rather than relying on the plastic material itself to not strip out where it attaches to the motor shaft.

Worth every penny

I purchased as a replacement for an existing 8664 which the fan motor ceased to work. It was easier to just replace the guts and used the new cover as to replace the unit which would mean sheet rock, and painting for the customer. I always used this model years ago, was always happy with it.

Was as advertised. Installed easily. Kind of noisy.

Product is a good value for the price. What makes it a great unit is that the new blower motor is mounted to a metal plate that fits exactly in a 20 year old Nutone Broan unit that had stopped working. Was very easy replacement—- one screw holds in the metal mounting plate so unscrew and remove old until, place new unit in housing and reinsert screw and you simply plug in new blower into housing that has a outlet type connection. Installed new grille that came with unit and it looks, sounds and works like new. Hats off to Nutone Broan for keeping the mounting arrangement the same after all these years so I did not have to replace the housing which would have required Sheetrock damage, repair, spackling and painting.
