Too Good to be True...but is it True!
I am so glad that I came across this replacement assembly instead of trying to install a whole new fan. It fit perfectly in my 25 year old exhaust fan unit. I could not find a part number on the old assembly, but on the metal was stamped 'For use with models 8814, 8663, 8673'. This Power Unit Assembly for 8663RP was exactly what I needed. As others have noted, it literally takes only minutes to remove a single screw and install the new assembly. I spent much more time cleaning out the accumulated dust than in any type of installation activity. Now if I could just keep the yellowjackets out of the duct!

Fit with a few tweaks
My unit was stamped "for use with models 8814, 8663,8673. My motor worked but was very noisy. This entire unit was cheaper than a new motor from Nutone.
I had to lengthen the electric plug slot by 1/4 inch with a saber saw for a snug fit, like several other reviewers. I could not use the old sheet metal part because the fan wheel does not stick up as high. There was initially too much noise caused by the light dome vibrating against the housing; I put an o-ring on the bolt which increased the standoff and solved that problem.

"NuTone" is what this needs - louder than the one I replaced
For over $100, it is truly disappointing to find that this shipped with both motor mounts loose, and the motor slightly off balanced resulting in a vibration even worse than the one I replaced that is more than 10 years old. If my ceiling wasn't tile, I would rip this out and replace with a Panasonic right now.

Perfect Replacement for and Old Fan
I bought this unit to replace a 15 year old fan of the same model that finally gave way. Replacement was very easy and all work was performed inside bathroom (no attic work or cutting). The replacement piece dropped right into the old housing using only a screw driver to secure the unit in place. The fan is not the quietest on the market, but I actually prefer a louder fan in the bathroom.
