Description

Overview:

The FV-10VEC2 Intelli-Balance 100 is a customizable, high-performance, high-efficiency Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) that's designed to help you meet ASHRAE 62.2 requirements, supplying air to replace exhausted air, helping to balance air pressure within the home. Intelli-Balance 100 ERV uses four integrated dual 4-inch or 6-inch round duct adaptors - two to exhaust stale air and two to supply fresh air. This unique and cost-effective ERV was engineered for total versatility and installation flexibility. Intelli-Balance 100 uses two powerful ECM brushless motors with built-in SmartFlow technology. Intelli-Balance 100 includes a built-in Pick-A-Flow speed selector that provides the unique ability to select your required supply (30-40-50-60-70-80-90-100 CFM) and exhaust airflow (30-40-50-60-70-80-90-100 CFM), with the simple turn of a dial. The new occupant-controlled Boost function moves fan speed to high when activated. The adjustable Minutes Per Hour (Min/Hr) timer allows the user to set the number of minutes per hour the ERV should run. This Cold Climate Model is recommended for areas where temperatures can drop as low as -22°F (-30°C). Achieve quality air and energy efficiency with whisper-quiet sound levels for your spaces. The FV-10VEC2 has an 8-7/8-Inch housing depth.

Works great for mitigating basement

I don't know if this is how this unit is intended to be used. I only know how I am using it and the results I've seen. I set this up as a last resort to lower my radon levels. I should have used it first. I have the intake air set higher than the exhaust air. That creates a pressurized basement. The first day I had it set up we watched the radon levels drop by the hour. No joke. The levels started to spike about a month later. When I checked on the unit it had a dirty air filter. As soon as I changed it they started dropping back down. In a basement that had consistent levels of 9-11 it is now kept at less than 1. Amazing results.

Recurring problem I see when purchasing an object like a ERV is there is no and I would underline and emphasize the word No is that technical support is non existence if the need arises. Companies provide contact info but forget believing tech help actually exists. I have found this seems to happen over and over

Great product, great company

I recently added this ERV to my home for ventilation in the lower level bed and bath rooms. Two adjustable speed fans make it possible for me to slightly pressurize or de-pressurize the house when needed. I added Fantech's 13 Merv filter system to the Panasonic's Merv 8 stock filter and have a noticeable difference in air quality in those spaces. I couldn't be happier with the product. As a construction manager I purchase a lot of products throughout the year, none are better than SupplyHouse. I know if I run into a problem, they are on it instantly, resolve it quickly and do so with a smile. Love dealing with these chaps.

Works great.

It nice to have a constant supply of fresh air in our house. Made a noticeable improvement in air quality and has eliminated that "old house" odor. Our unit is connected to the forced air heating/cooling ductwork. The setup works well with our forced air fan running at a low speed 24/7. Like the feature to adjust supply and exhaust cfm separately. After testing different settings, I prefer a slight positive pressure for our house.

Great Product For Fresh Air Exchange

Installed this unit in a new addition section of the house with blown foam insulation. The new addition is very tight so I wanted to exchange the air several times a day. I installed this unit in the attic and ducted accordingly. The new addition has hydronic radiant floor heat so there was no ducting to connect to and no blower unit to connect the control to. Even though the fan speed can be turned way down I did not want it to run 24/7. So I connected the switch control to a digital wall timer I installed in a closet. It now runs three times a day and exchanges the air with no appreciable impact to the room temp. What I love is walking into the new addition and I can smell the freshness of the air when the unit is running. Smells like outdoors. Super quiet. I really like the unit and would definitely recommend it. Two things to note. 1 - There is a switch control that must be wired into a switch or jumped across. If this is not done the unit will not run and it will appear defective. It's in the wiring manual, but for whatever reason some seem to miss that detail from other reviews I have read. And 2 - the Cold Climate version of this unit is a must for those in cold climates. The temperate version unit could freeze when running in cold. The Cold Climate version will stop the fresh air exchange if the temp drops below 14F and run a defrost cycle. So if you live in an area of really cold nights or cold stretches and you think the unit has stopped working it's just doing what it was designed to do.

Impact on Radon

ERV results on Radon. Install on 4/19 around 4:30PM. I will continue to monitor the results this upcoming winter. Summer months typically are not an issue in our house. Basement has a rubblestone foundation. Images show results from the Airthings Wave Plus.

Radon Reduction - Malfunction Issue/Resolution

RE: Intelli-Balance™ 100 – FV-10VEC2 Purpose: Our house has a rubblestone foundation that results in high radon levels during the fall and winter. This ERV was installed as a standalone to evacuate radon contaminated air while replacing it with fresh air at a slight positive pressure. Problem/Solution: During shipping, the exhaust DC fan motor shifted out of alignment and would not function (see video). The solution was to push up on the fan blades inside of the housing and get the motor back into alignment. Thank you, support! Result: The unit was powered on during an extreme low that raised Radon levels to above 19 pCi/L. Once running, the machine quickly brought the levels down to around 4 pCi/L. Some of that drop is likely due to pressure change, but some can be attributed to the unit. As you can tell from the images, the unit appears to be evacuating and diluting the air of Radon. The real test will come this upcoming winter. If more fresh air is needed, we may upgrade the system to the 200 cfm unit and use this unit in another area of the house.

Worth every penny

I recently bought a 1920's house that had been fully remodeled, decent house but had terrible air quality, and smelled like building materials. I got this unit, tied it into the central HVAC, and it has made the air in the house is so much fresher and more comfortable. Couple recommendations, if you have to run the ducting very far, use 6 inch ducting; Use nice quality vents (I did wall vents about 12ft apart) and add some fine stainless screen on the intake to keep bugs and debris out;
