The Panasonic FV-40VQ4 WhisperCeiling 380 CFM fan features a totally enclosed condenser motor and a double-tapered, dolphin shaped bladed blower wheel to quietly move a large amount of air at reduced RPMs, so it's quiet enough that you might not even know it's on. With a 3.0 sone level and rated 380 cubic feet per minute, this fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years due to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. We designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. The fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust. This Energy Star qualified fan has a built-in damper to prevent back draft, which helps to prevent outside air from coming through the fan. Covered by a manufacturer warranty for period of three years from the date of the original purchase.

Great Fan
Great fan that moves a good amount of air. It was a little heavier than I thought it would be so had to mount it extra securely but I'm pretty happy overall. Hooked it up to a humidity sensor in a large basement room and it kicks in and circulates the air pretty well.

Not for old work installations
This fan is great. Its everything you know to expect from Panasonic but it is A LOT OF WORK to install in retrofit situations. The fan is larger than the spread of existing ceiling joists and thus requires some more than minor carpentry/repair to install. The fan works great and is very quiet but if you are not installing new with a carpenter on site you should look for a different options

This fan is a beast!
Great powerful fan! Moves a lot of air. Not a retrofit fan by any means but installed it as one…a little extra time and a few choice words later it is in. Very happy with it and the noise level is acceptable. Make sure you hard pipe it with all seams taped…and don't try to reduce to 4" at the termination…

Wonderful product

Very Efficient
I purchased this item for use in a residential cigar room approximalty 10' x 13'. It does an amazing job at extracting the smoke, leaving the air visually clear. The sound (sones) is also acceptable; much more quite than my bathroom exhausts.
