Installed one of these on a toilet about 2 years ago that I had previous difficulties with/wife complaints of gas leak smells (20+ years of screwing around with this including hiring professionals too). Wax rings regardless of thickness, with or without a cone, etc. just didn't seem to work well for this particular toilet.
Also, I like the seemingly unlimited use with this product unlike the traditional wax ring. This product will probably outlast toilets.

great set of modern material seals
clean, effective, sticky, flexible, compressible, reusable, multiple thicknesses.
multiple set attempts made good use of the reusable feature and the multiple thicknesses feature:
1st attempt with the too-thick seal first which floated the toilet
2nd attempt to switch to the thinner seal.
3rd attempt to verify pulled out temporary drain-block. better be safe than sorry on this one!
If someone ever again pulls off the toilet, they will greatly benefit from the clean feature and re-usable feature.
With this and other modern seal materials, the 100 yr old wax junk is officially obsolete.
Now if they could just make toilets LIGHTER.
