TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE FITTING
We wanted to fit our 6" telescope with a front filter to allow viewing / photographing the sun. This fitting slides perfectly on and off the front end of the telescope.
We cut out the center of the plug and fit a piece of filter material over the adapter and screwed on the plug (missing the center it now was an annular ring holding the filter.)
The adapter worked great. We could align the scope without the filter by projecting the eyepiece solar image on a paper. When it was aligned, we slid the adapter on the front end to provide a filtered image for viewing and photography.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffHi Chris, thanks for writing in. No, this is a spigot connection so it is the same size as 8" nominal PVC pipe. This will fit inside of another fitting with an 8" hub/socket.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouseHi JM! The outside diameter is not a dimension provided, however the P105X-080 is a spigot connection and will go inside 8" PVC DWV pipe which has an OD of 8.625", so it should be about the same or very close in diameter.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThis fitting measures 5.5 inches from top to bottom with plug installed, then the square operator nut in the center of the plug sticks up another 1 inch. So overall length including the operator nut is 6.5 inches approximately.
