Q: Does this product have a smooth surface inside that reduces from 4" to 1" or is there a bushing inside that steps down the 4" section to 2" then 1"? In other words, if this unit 1 solid piece?

Q: I'm assuming these reducer couplings are female on both ends. Do the openings on each side allow for the outside diameter of a pipe to be inserted into the coupler? In other words, if i buy the 1-1/2" x 1" PVC Schedule 40 Reducer Coupling, does that mean I can insert a 1" Schedule 40 pipe into one side and a 1-1/2" Schedule 40 pipe into the opposite end?

Verified Reply- Supplyhouse Staffno we do not, PVC fitting are not exactly 1.125 X 1.5 as they are sized to fit over PVC piping which are not exact 1/4" increments.
