Description
–
The TACO 006 is designed for circulating hot or chilled fresh water in open or closed loop applications. Typical uses include hydronic heating, domestic hot water recirculation, hydro-air heating/cooling, heat recovery units, water source heat pumps, drain down open loop solar systems and potable water applications. The unique, replaceable cartridge contains all of the moving parts and allows for easy service instead of replacing the entire circulator. The compact, low power consumption design is ideal for high efficiency jobs.

Perfect Fit
This little pump is used in our Hot Water Recovery system that is connected to our central air conditioner. My original pump failed just under 5 years from new. I'm most certain it took a voltage surge after a recent thunderstorm as we had additional damage to other appliances in our home at the same time. My last pump was about 20 years old on our old A/C system. We recently replaced the entire system in Jan 2019. This pump was a direct replacement and solved our problems. We received it in about 8 days from the time the order was placed. I originally ordered from another supplier just the cartridge part of this pump and that didn't solve my problem. Since most electrical components are not returnable, I decided to just replace the whole pump. Extremely easy to replace and takes just a few minutes. We are once again heating our water from the waste heat from our A/C.

Perfect replacement for old model
This website let me know that my old model number (006-BC5Y) was discontinued, and it recommended this correct replacement part. It arrived quickly, and I was able to swap out the old pump housing that was leaking with the new one right away.
I didn't even need to do any plumbing, as the mounted base plate that's soldered to the pipes is the exact same size. It was just a matter of shutting off the power and the water, removing the 4 bolts, and popping the new pump onto the old plate, and rewiring it the same way as the old one. Took maybe 15-20 minutes.

Drink Water
When you need to move potable water bronze(or stainless)this is the way to go. It would be better if shut-off valves or flanges were available to make repair/replacement easier. This model is direct sweat to copper pipe.

Q: I have a heat exchanger with a 006-BC5Y-1 in it. Can I replace it with this one "006-BC8Y" without unsoldering the pump housing? Are they physically the same?
