Press the mode button on the thermostat; it should change from heat to cool.
The T2800 has non-volatile memory so settings would be saved in case of a power outage. It does not take batteries.
It sounds like the thermostat isn't in the Program On mode. Once you make the necessary changes to your program, make sure you toggle the Mode button to Program On.
EricThe first thing I would check is to make sure you have 24 volts to the stat. See TroubleShooting under section 8 on pages 8.1 and 8.2 of the installation instructions I sure hope this helps I will attach this page 8.1 for you.
Deleted 24 volt power that controls the thermostat is missing.if you have a volt meter there needs to be 24 volts between terminals r&c most common remedy check furnace switch or ac breaker is off.
