Great elbows. Super Light Weight!

When it comes to working out of your vehicle, all things must be considered. We like these because they are lighter in weight, easier to carry in bulk, and overall, seem to do the trick in durability. So far, so good!

Q: What is the material composition of this elbow. I have a project that requires fittings with no traces of copper as you would get with brass or bronze.

PolyAlloy fittings are made of plastic (Polysulfone).

Q: The description states it is a reduction elbow from 3/4" to 1/2"... but the picture shows a standard elbow, both ends the same... so, what is it then?

The elbow is 3/4" x 1/2" elbow. This is a stock photograph used for illustration purposes and not representative of the size.

Q: I was looking at some poly alloy elbows in another major hardware store. It stated on the package not to use stainless steel pinch clamps but I read an answer to a previous question on this site that said it was Okay to use them with the product you sell; what's the difference?

You can use either stainless steel PEX cinch clamps or copper crimp rings with these fittings, but keep in mind that Viega does not warrant connections made with clamps because their company does not offer a clamping system.

when i first learned of pex pipe the plumber that showed me took a torch and heated the pipe up and stretched it and it went back to it's original shape.  to answer your question about heat i would think there should not be a problem.  i use it for hot water @ 140 degrees without failure!

There are really none to speak of. PolyAlloy fittings are just as reliable as brass fittings, in addition to being lead-free and less expensive.

PEX does not have to be heated or expanded to use clamp fittings. Oetiker clamps will work with the Viega PolyAlloy elbows.

Q: Is polyalloy pex fitting better than the brass pex fittings that you offer? I notice the plastic polyalloy crimp fittings have a 10 year warranty and the brass is only a 5 year?

The PolyAlloy fittings do have a longer warranty and we have no reservations about them. It is difficult to compare them to brass fittings, but plastic is certainly better at resisting corrosion, which is vital in open systems.
