Q: Do the colored plastic collars need to stay in place before, during, and after installation? They appear to simply slide on and off.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouseHi Michael! The plastic pieces on this fitting are spacers, once pressed they serve no purpose and can be removed.

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffNo, PEX press fitting require a PEX Press tool. They don't just snap over the tubing as a SharkBite fitting does.
Not quite. The PEX Press Elbow requires the attached press sleeves and tool locator ring to be used as connections, whereas Sharkbite fittings require no clamps or unions.
