When I first opened up the original valve I was surprised that the replacement does not look like it fits. I was reluctant to install it. (see image) After being assured by Watts direct that it does fit, I installed it. It does function in this 1997 Watts 70a.
The original value has a dial that ranges from 120-160 degrees. In my application, this replacement does not match that range. It is running on the hotter side.

Low temp thermostat doesn't work!
I bought this to replace the thermostat on my Watts 70A mixing valve. First of all, it's just stupid to have the "standard" 70A temperature range be 120-160 degrees, that's just barely useable at the low end of the range. Way too hot for normal household use.
With the L70 repair kit it should reduce the temperature by 20 degrees at the low end (range of 100-130 degrees).
So you can imagine my surprise when the water temperature at my taps went UP by 6 degrees!
I'm scrapping the Watts valve and going with a valve that meets ASSE 1017 & ASSE 1070 standards.

repaired tempering valve
used this kit and rebuilt an old tempering valve, the water temperature since, while not perfectly consistent, is much more even.

Excellent service returning and getting another part.
Ordered a Watts regulator to replace 20 yr old broken one. Put the regulator in an the pressure shot up to 65-75 psi on the burner, from 20 psi!! Spoke to customer service an they shipped another one out in 2-days! no charge. They also said other parts might also be no good, seeing they were 20 yrs old.
Sure enough, the Hy-Vent, expansion tank, and mixing valve were corroded. Installed all an the burner is running great!! The customer service, prices, and friendly people have made me a regular customer! Keep up the great work!!!!!

Great time saver
If you are in an area with high mineral content in the water, you can recommend that the customer turn the mixing valve handle one a month. When the valves finally stick, this is a great time saver versus replacing the entire valve.

Yes I would buy this again.
This worked out well for me, I had a valve I took out years ago for poor hot water and it was frozen and couldn't turn it. So it was good I could just get a kit and change it in the old one so I had one ready to go in.
